Countries in Asia are evaluating ASW helicopters as a matter of urgency because all are concerned about China’s submarine fleet and increased assertiveness. “Every year the number of submarines in the Chinese fleet goes up,” says one industry executive. China has also reportedly started deploying a new and more advanced nuclear-powered attack submarine, the Shang class.
